BTS Utility Arb operates vegetation teams dedicated to vegetation removal on the Low Voltage (domestic) network. These teams are trained to a very high standard and consist of experienced professionals, holding nationally recognised competency certificates.

The teams that undertake this work operate through an office based scheduler, providing the flexibility to carry out single property line clearance up to capital projects; these can vary from one span to several kilometres.

Our teams liaise directly with our client’s customers with regard to access and disposal of arisings, helping to facilitate the vegetation work to the satisfaction of both parties. This is particularly important when de-energising the network.

The removal of vegetation from the vicinity of the over head line and service wires requires a specialised fleet of vehicles; BTS Utility Arb has access to equipment ranging from wood chippers and transit tippers through to fully insulated Unimogs. The majority of work is undertaken using MEWPs.

Keeping the network energised is not always possible due to the degree of encroachment of vegetation and or other identified site hazards. The detailed site risk assessment will indicate if the work requires the network to be de-energised. When this has been determined, BTS Utility Arb will engage BTS DPL to provide electrical support to de-energise the network; re-energising once the work has been completed.

The fact that BTS Utility Arb and BTS DPL are on site on the same de-energised operation; this presents the Client with an opportunity to reduce their overall customer interruptions (Regulatory driven).
