Overhead Line Construction and Maintenance, Line Patrolling – DPL – BTS Grou

BTS DPL formally Distribution Power Lines (DPL) was formed in 2001 as an overhead line construction and maintenance contracting Company which has gradually expanded its workforce, fleet and client base. Since then, we have provided overhead line maintenance & construction, and line patrolling services throughout the UK.

Our sizeable workforce is comprised of an extremely experienced, trained and fully authorised staff with a modern fleet of vehicles which are totally suitable and bespoke for our Clients requirements. The Fleet consist of Insulated Ariel Devices (IADs), MEWPS, 4×4s, excavators and Hi-ab Pole Augers, along with HGV vehicles for delivering Plant, transformers and pole to site as well as putting them in place.

In 2006 BTS DPL established it’s own ‘Hot Glove’ team, which is a specialist operation that allows our Linesmen to work hands-on, ‘Live’, in direct contact with high voltage (11Kv) overhead lines, this is a facility offered by only a select few Companies working on behalf of Regional Electricity Distribution Companies throughout the UK. This highly specialised work can dramatically reduce the size of maintenance outages, inturn reducing the Customer Minute Lost (CML) as well as reducing Customer Interruptions (CI), both are measures by which the Regulator judges the Distribution Companies..

All trainees wishing to work on our line patrolling, overhead line construction and overhead line maintenance projects are required to attend the City & Guilds 232 electrical qualification through Manchester Open Learning. All of our operatives are highly trained, fully motorvated and aware of the importance of working to strict Health & Safety rules and regulations which is backed up by the Group Health & Safety Department, and our own specific DPL Safety Representative.
